Kay Aylward
Kay is the owner, operator, creator, graphic designer, print technician, assistant accountant, manager, spokesperson, editor, face and spirit of the company. She basically does it all. After 30 years of graphic design work with Newfoundland Power and many years of constant education, Kay decided it was time to go after her dream: owning her own Print Shop. With a few small printers, a single computer and many years of experience, Kay began in the basement of her home. As the years went by, Aylward’s Designs Plus grew too large for the Aylward residence and Kay moved to her store front location in Ocean Beach Premises, on the Main Road, Witless Bay, NL.
Kay knows the business inside and out, she knows her clients and their expectations, the programs and equipment, and all the tricks of the trade. She is the one who deals with the suppliers and she knows paper quality better than most in the business. Basically, she is the heart of the business and often works long hours, including weekends when necessary to get the work done, she loves what she does…and it shows!
Kay, when not at the office, might be seen paddling on Octagon Pond in Paradise, with the Avalon Dragons, her breast cancer survivor dragon boat team. The Avalon Dragons have attended many national and international Dragon Boat Festivals, Kay as also participated in the Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival on Dows Lake, Ottawa; and the 4 Cities Invitational Festival in China, 2019.
